Why Tutoring?

Education is the foundation of opportunity. Sure, school is about learning new things, making good grades and experiencing life as a teenager. But it’s also about preparing for the future. Our tutors don’t just educate, they motivate by mentoring students and showing they care.

Do you suspect your child is struggling in school? Are you unsure about the benefits of tutoring? Read below for details on identifying a student who needs help.

LOW SELF-CONFIDENCE
Regardless of how your student typically learns or tackles projects and assignments, it's easy for their confidence to suffer when they experience a setback. Failure can result in self-defeating behavior, decreased output, and a lack of enthusiasm. It's important to recognize these behaviors as indications that your child has encountered a roadblock and their confidence is beginning to suffer.

APATHY
A child's attitude can change due to any number of reasons. Perhaps your child isn't enjoying school the way they used to, or maybe they've never expressed a real joy toward learning and you've decided that now is the time to change.

PROBLEMS AT HOME
Performance in the classroom and behaviors at home are often connected.  Frustration with school might cause a change in attitude with family.  Problems at home could be a result of difficulties in school.

BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS
Behavioral problems can mean that your child is failing to understand something in their lessons. Children often act up with friends or teachers because they want to avoid being seen as "unintelligent" or slow. Children have the same insecurities as grown-ups. A student who feels like they've fallen behind the rest of the class will become defensive. Noticing these changes in behavior allows you to take action and improve your child's confidence & interaction.

Testimonials

"I am extremely satisfied with the services Group Excellence has provided my daughter who is in the 11th grade. She has struggled with Geometry, and the one-on-one tutoring that she has been provided helped build her confidence and knowledge in preparing for test and completing assignments.

I look forward to continuing the tutoring services with Group Excellence throughout the year. I am interested in continuing our tutoring relationship throughout her 12th grade year to prepare her for College. Matt Houston is a wise young man, who connects with the High School students and my daughter respects him and the tutors who are part of Group Excellence."
