Academic Excellence

  • “Of all major SES providers, Group Excellence is the only one that showed significant correlations between its students’ recorded tutoring hours and students’ annual scale score gains on TAKS reading.”

  • "In Math, after controlling for prior achievement, the adjusted mean 2006-07 Math TAKS z-score of SES students receiving Math tutoring from Group Excellence, Ltd. was statistically significantly higher than controls."

Texas Education Agency Report on Supplemental Educational Services

  • At one Dallas High School, 9th graders who completed the Group Excellence TAKS prep program increased their passing rates by 12 percentage points. These students scored higher than students in the rest of the school, area and district.
  • Math scores for 7th and 8th graders at a Dallas middle school shot up from 12 percent to 60%+ passing  only 1 year after activating Group Excellence tutors at the school.

  • Group Excellence has the best attendance rate for tutoring programs in Dallas, 77%.

Notable Accomplishments

  • February 21, 2010- Carl Dorvil was awarded the prestigious "Dallas Business Journal 2010 Minority Business Leaders Award" for his extraordinary work as President/CEO of Group Excellence.
  • March 2010- The Dallas Business Journal names Group Excellence as one of the top 50 minority owned businesses in North Texas.
  • Fall 2009- Group Excellence was featured on the NFL Network for their work with Deion Sanders' "Truth Camp."
  • June 24, 2008 - Dallas Independent School District and Dallas Achieves! award Group Excellence with their certificate of appreciation for GE’s participation and contribution in the “City Wide Youth Mentoring Coalition.”
  • June 3, 2008 - The Texas Education Agency and School Improvement Resource Center name Carl Dorvil to the Texas SES Task Force.
  • May 15, 2008 - Group Excellence awards 2 seniors at Samuel High School $4,000 scholarships.
  • March 3, 2007 - Group Excellence was presented the Pinnacle Award for outstanding work in the community by the Dallas County Peace Officers Association.
